Shay played by Ryan Destiny is a black girl facing a financial troubles which forces her to accept a job in a plantation owned by former slave-owners, offered Kate played by Heather Graham who take her around the house to show her paintings of her ancestors who fought in the civil war.
Shay go home and decide to not take the job, to find Kate calling her late at night offering her 500$ to spend the night at the plantation watching the kids, and Shay agrees.
As long as Shay stay in the house, she discovered red flags all the time, like racist toys, and then she found Kate's daughter washing her hands in pathological way to find that she's doing what her mother told her to wash "Shay" out of her.
TBH, till like half of the movie, you have no idea what kind of horror movie will it be, is it a slasher, or ghost movie, or what, and having Shay like the only person in the house make you wonder how things will go, it's not boring tho, it's engaging and make you curious on what will happen next and what Shay will discover and face.
Anyway, the movie gets so good after the second half as the action begin, and her absolute worst nightmare became true, I love unpredictable movies that keeps you curious till the end, you just take the journey with them till wherever they end with, I wouldn't spoil the movie more than that, but the movie is one of the best movies this year.
